Biography
Sixth person to walk on the Moon as Apollo 14's Lunar Module Pilot. Later founded the Institute of Noetic Sciences to study consciousness. He died in 2016.
Before NASAU.S. Navy aviator and research pilot who flew the A3D Skywarrior, accumulated 5,000 flight hours, graduated first in his class from the Air Force Aerospace Research Pilot School in 1966, and held a doctorate in aeronautics and astronautics from MIT.

On the return journey from the Moon, Mitchell secretly conducted unauthorized ESP experiments with subjects on Earth, then founded the Institute of Noetic Sciences in 1973 to scientifically study consciousness — a journey that began at 240,000 miles from Earth.
