Eighth person to walk on the Moon and Lunar Module Pilot of Apollo 15, helping discover the 'Genesis Rock.' He died in 1991, the first moonwalker to pass away.
Before NASAU.S. Air Force test pilot and aeronautical engineer who served as chief of the Advanced Requirements Branch at Headquarters Air Defense Command and as a developmental test pilot for the Mach 3 Lockheed YF-12 interceptor, logging over 7,000 flight hours.
