Russian Air Force pilot selected as a cosmonaut in 2018 who made his first spaceflight aboard SpaceX Crew-11, spending 167 days on the ISS.
Before NASARussian Air Force fighter pilot and commander of an aviation unit within the 22nd Guards Fighter Aviation Regiment from 2008 to 2018, before Roscosmos selected him in the 2018 Group 17 cosmonaut selection.

Platonov was originally assigned to fly to the ISS on a Soyuz spacecraft, but a NASA–Roscosmos seat-swap agreement redirected him to a SpaceX Crew Dragon instead — making his first spaceflight aboard a wholly different vehicle than the one he had trained for.
