Flame Nebula
The Flame Nebula is a glowing cradle of newborn stars in Orion, set ablaze by ultraviolet light pouring from the brilliant belt star Alnitak just beyond its edge. Its fiery streaks of orange gas split by dark dust lanes make it one of the most photographed star-forming regions in the night sky, and infrared telescopes have peered through the dust to reveal hundreds of infant stars hidden within.
