Helix Nebula
The Helix Nebula is one of the nearest and most photographed planetary nebulae — the glowing, expanding shroud of gas cast off by a dying Sun-like star, with a tiny white dwarf burning at its heart. Nicknamed the "Eye of God" for its striking iris-like rings, it is famous for the thousands of comet-shaped gaseous knots that Hubble revealed around its ghostly central star.
