North America Nebula
The North America Nebula (NGC 7000) is a vast glowing cloud of hydrogen gas in the constellation Cygnus whose ragged outline famously mirrors the shape of the North American continent, complete with a dark "Gulf of Mexico." Spanning an area more than three times wider than the full Moon and lit by hidden young stars, it is one of the most photographed and beloved emission nebulae in the northern sky.
