First commercial far-side landing attempt. Elytra deploys ESA's Lunar Pathfinder relay before Blue Ghost descends, providing dual-S/X-band relay for surface and orbital users. JPL's User Terminal Payload delivered for integration April 2026.

Blue Ghost Mission 2 is Firefly's planned follow-on to its 2025 landing, targeting a launch no earlier than late 2026 and aiming to become the first commercial mission to touch down on the Moon's far side. In a triple-spacecraft architecture, the Elytra Dark vehicle would first release ESA's Lunar Pathfinder relay into lunar orbit before Blue Ghost descends to the surface, establishing a dual orbital-and-surface communications link. If successful, it would deliver LuSEE-Night — a radio telescope designed to study the cosmic-dawn era — plus seismic and rover payloads, extending far-side science access that no direct Earth link can support; the mission remains in development and has not yet flown.
