The European Union's first officially designated horizontal spaceport (Italian Ministry of Infrastructure and Transport, 2018) — a Puglian cargo airport with a 3,200 m runway. Virgin Galactic and ENAC signed a cooperation agreement in December 2024 to study flying spaceplanes from the site; ENAC and Eurocontrol are actively validating ATM procedures as of May 2026.
