Biography
Command Module Pilot of Apollo 17, the last crewed flight to the Moon. He orbited alone in America for nearly three days while Cernan and Schmitt explored Taurus-Littrow, then made a deep-space EVA on the way home to retrieve film canisters.
Before NASAU.S. Navy aviator who flew 112 combat missions in Vietnam before joining NASA's fifth astronaut group.
