Designation: Feitian (飞天) Gen 2
China's current Tiangong EVA suit — with 8-hour duration and 15+ EVA reusability, it supports all Tiangong station spacewalks.
The second-generation Feitian EVA suit was introduced with Shenzhou 12's first EVA on July 4, 2021, and represents a significant upgrade over the first generation in every performance dimension. EVA duration doubled from 4 to 8 hours, matching the NASA EMU. Reusability extended from 5 to 15+ EVAs per unit, and in-station storage life was rated for 3 years. Enhanced safety systems and redundant life support architecture were added. The suits are stored aboard Tiangong in pairs for active crew use. As of mid-2025, one Feitian Gen 2 suit has completed over 20 EVAs across 11 different taikonauts — setting a Chinese spaceflight endurance milestone and validating the 3-year orbital storage requirement. With Chinese taikonauts now completing EVAs regularly, the Gen 2 Feitian is one of the two most-used active EVA suits in the world alongside the NASA EMU.
