Mars Reconnaissance Orbiter has been the backbone of NASA's Mars communication infrastructure since 2006 and remains operational in 2026. Its HiRISE camera has transformed surface science and enabled the pin-point landing of Curiosity, InSight, and Perseverance. The spacecraft has returned more data from Mars than all other missions combined.
“MRO has returned more data about Mars than all other spacecraft combined. Studying Mars' atmosphere and terrain from orbit since 2006.”
