Guowang ('national network'), operated by state-owned China SatNet, is China's answer to Starlink — a planned 13,000-satellite low-Earth-orbit constellation spread across multiple orbital shells. Part of Beijing's 'New Infrastructure' initiative, it is intended to provide sovereign broadband and extend connectivity to Belt & Road partner nations. Deployment began with its first batches launched on Long March vehicles.
